LOS ANGELES, CA, June, 17, 2010 — EHS Medical Group, a medical professional corporation and integrated health delivery system, today announced that member physician, George Wee-Keng Ma, M.D., will serve as the 139th president of the Los Angeles County Medical Association (LACMA). Dr. Ma, an active LACMA board member and EHS Medical Group physician in private practice, will begin his term on July 1, 2010.
“The next few years will undoubtedly be an important time for our nation’s healthcare system,” Dr. Ma said. “I’m honored to represent physicians in Los Angeles as we transition toward the future of healthcare.”
A professional association comprised of physicians from every medical specialty and practice setting, as well as medical students, interns and residents, LACMA acts on behalf of its members in various public policy, government relations and community relations efforts. Dr. Ma will be responsible for the strategic direction of the organization’s advocacy efforts.
“During the next year, we will assist county physicians with the adoption of technology and information management systems that will prepare them for the future of the industry,” said Sean O’Brien, interim executive director of LACMA. “As a physician in private practice, a teacher in the Keck School of Medicine, a member of our board, and a California Medical Association delegate, Dr. Ma is in touch with the needs and opinions of physicians in Los Angeles, and will provide guidance that is truly representative.”
